Salary Scale               : SCP 30 (£27,358) pro rata

Hours                         : 14.8 hrs. per week

Contract Type           : Temporary for 6 months

Annual Leave            : 25 days p.a. plus 11 BH pro rata

You will provide independent, impartial debt advice sessions to members of the public requiring help with their debt problems. The advice will be provided in face to face sessions, by telephone, e-mail and video call and through any other reasonable channel. The advice will be provided primarily from the Burley Lodge Centre but you may be required to work from other locations in Leeds including from client’s homes, G.P. surgeries or Leeds City Council children’s centres. The advice will be provided in accordance with AQS Casework Standards.

You will work collaboratively as part of the BLC Specialist Advice Team, to improve and develop the existing debt advice service in order to enhance the advice service provided by us to members of the public.


Responsibilities include:


  • Deliver debt advice sessions to individual clients which lead to a recommended course of action for that client which will improve their situation and aim to resolve their over-indebtedness. The advice will be provided up to casework level where necessary. 
  • Evidence the advice by a comprehensive case record on AdvicePro for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, and statistical monitoring and report preparation.
  • Ensure that personal knowledge and skills are updated to ensure effectiveness in meeting work objectives.  Keep up to date with relevant changes in legislation, QA systems and trends in the sector
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, case law, policies and procedures, attend appropriate training and read publications including undertaking sufficient relevant training and personal study to achieve 16 hours per year of continuing professional development.
